Let’s Talk Issues

Education

Education

Did you know our state ranks 49th in per-student spending?

As a product of Utah's public education system on the westside, and now as a parent with children in school on the east side, I've experienced firsthand the inequities in access to quality education and resources.

Over the years, we have seen an attack and dismantling of our public education system. The very education system that my family and I heavily relied on and credit for getting us out of poverty.

Quality education often increases chances for upward economic mobility.

That is why I am committed to crafting policies that prioritize investments in our schools.

The challenges facing our education system today are real and urgent. A rise in remote work means students entering the workforce will face a highly integrated market. They will be competing not just for jobs in Utah, but on a global scale.

We must ensure they are equipped to meet this challenge and excel. To get us there, I will propose an education policy that moves past party and ideology—a plan focused on investing in our students, educators, and learning environments across Utah..

Environment

The Environment

“We can’t keep taking from this earth and expect it to heal itself.

We need to do our part in protecting it.”

Utah’s breathtaking landscape is second to none, and that is evident in the explosive growth the state is experiencing. Utah's unparalleled natural beauty attracts visitors from around the globe and is a driver of our economy. However, the continued degradation of our environment poses a significant threat to both our way of life and our economic prosperity.

The Great Salt Lake is experiencing significant water loss and is at risk of collapse. Protecting its water supply is crucial for our air quality, and our health.

Utahns deserve clean air. I am committed to championing policies aimed at reducing emissions, conserving water, and advocating for clean air regulations to protect both the environment and health of all Utahns.

Growth

Growth

“Growth is going to happen naturally.

What matters is that our growth is inclusive to everyone.”

I know the importance of responsible growth—of remembering that at the core of expansion are the people who each play a vital role in achieving success. To create jobs while also advocating for accessible healthcare. To encourage and celebrate diversity so that the vibrancy of this community expands and reverberates throughout the state and beyond.

Equity

“My lived experiences have shaped me into the candidate who will fight tirelessly for equity and justice for all.”

As a Woman I understand the unique challenges women face. This is why I am a staunch advocate for women’s reproductive rights. Every woman should have the autonomy to make decisions about her own body.

I am also passionate about undoing the recent attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Protecting LGBTQIA+ youth and community members is essential. Everyone deserves to live in a community where they feel safe, accepted, and valued.

Homelessness

"We need permanent solutions for our unsheltered community."

Hoang has served on the Geraldine E. King Women's Center since its inception in 2019.

She is dedicated to protecting and uplifting our unsheltered community through housing first with wrap-around services.

Redistricting

“I support Independent Redistricting and the Better Boundaries stance that voters should pick their politicians. Politicians should not pick their voters.”

As a business owner, I hope to bring my experiences and skills in sparking conversations and negotiations around issues that matter, particularly that of fair and equal representation. This is a key pillar of democracy and Utah legislators must commit to having a fair and transparent process when it comes to creating congressional and legislative districts
